by his own hand upon papyrus

One of the most exciting events in Mormon history was the rediscovery of the Egyptian papyri which Joseph smith had in his possession when he produced his Book of Abraham translation. Long thought to have been destroyed in the great Chicago fire, they had in reality found their way to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City where they resurfaced in 1967.

Includes a full-color foldout of the entire Book of Abraham papyrus and the untranslated Book of Joseph papyrus; the first published, full-color photographs of the Joseph Smith Papyri; and, a close look at the three Facsimilies, both Smith’s applied meanings to them, and the actual Egyption renditions.
